Crystallographic properties and phase transition in the YTaO4-ZrO2 system

The martensitic transformation in the (1-x) YTaO4 + x ZrO2 system is studied by application of crystallographic analyzing techniques like X-ray diffraction. Furthermore the dependence between the temperature of transition from monoclinic to tetragonal phase and the ZrO2 content is part of the present investigation. For this purpose various powder samples with different YTaO4 to ZrO2 ratios are measured by means of differential thermal analysis in the high temperature range and by differential scanning calorimetry around room temperature and below.
